Admittedly, this hearing device is advertised as an asset in stalking deer, as you presumably could hear a deer rustling around 100 feet away. I hate hunting, but the volume control I thought might help me in everyday affairs. The device is khaki- colored, it looked black in the illustration.

    1. after one spurt of loud volume the unit died completely.

    2. the ear bud wouldn’t stay in my ear, tried all three sizes.

    3. the volume control is very hard to turn, and I don’t get how they can say the unit has five levels. But after one try none of the volume levels work. The damned thing is dead even with a brand new battery supplied with the unit. Yes, the instrument was turned on.

    4. the tube connecting the ear plug and the control unit is too long. This could be cut, but since the device doesn’t work anyway I will not bother.

If you are a deer hunter and a man with a large ear, maybe this will be useful to you, that is, if it works.

This is the only time in many years of ordering Amazon stuff that I’ve given a one star rating.I should have known that at $11.64 plus postage you are not going to get a sophisticated instrument, but even at that price one does not expect the device to conk out immediately.

I wrote a thesis on low-cost hearing devices and I tested this one among others. I found that it is hazardous to your hearing and can potentially cause damage to your hearing, rather than help you hear better. The thing that irks me the most is that people think this instrument will protect them against gunshot noise (the supposed “noise suppression”) and in reality, you can do more damage to your hearing wearing this instrument, than wearing nothing at all. Please, folks, leave this one and any other low-cost (<$100) devices alone. They are a waste of your money, do not follow FDA regulations, and can potentially damage your hearing.

This product is advertised to significantly enhance hearing. I was a bit skeptical about the claims but thought for the low price it was worth a shot. The result: I should have saved my money. This product does not remotely meet it’s claims. My advice: Save your money on this one!

I have bought several of these hearing aids and since I use them every day, they are replaced as they wear out or breakdown physically from use. They seem to work as good as my regular hearing aids, which were expensive and have the same level of response. However, they do not have the ability to cut down the backround noise when in a restaurant for instance. I am satisfied with these aids on a hands down conversation with another person and disregarding the backround noise. Considering the low price for these aids I think they are well worth it. The factory customer relations has always promptly replaced any breakdown or failures when in warranty.
